Acupuncture to Support
Healthy Pregnancy

Growing a new human being is hard work. While it can be an exciting, magic time, pregnancy can also be really uncomfortable! Physical and emotional care during this time of life can have a huge, positive impact on your health, well-being, and enjoyment of your pregnancy.
Songbird Acupuncture’s holistic blend of treatments offer relief from many common pregnancy complaints and promote an easeful 9 months. I also offer labor preparation treatments that support the body’s natural birth process.
Acupuncture has been used for centuries to treat pregnancy. My approach is safe, effective, and based on specialized training and over a decade of experience. It doesn’t conflict with any other form of treatment or any medications you might be taking. In fact, acupuncture often serves as a fantastic complement to recommendations from your OB-GYN or midwife.
You want to ENJOY pregnancy, but sometimes even from the beginning it hits you like a freight train. Other times, physical or emotional discomfort creeps in later, right as you really want to rest and prepare for your baby.
Songbird’s safe, effective blend of acupuncture and other holistic therapies works for many common pregnancy issues, including:
Morning sickness and nausea
Fatigue and insomnia
Hip, back, and pelvic pain
Heartburn
Migraines
Prenatal anxiety or depression
Pregnancy-induced hypertension
Swelling and edema
Breech babies
Delayed onset of labor
Pregnancy Acupuncture FAQ
Q: Is it safe? Absolutely. I have specialized training and have worked with hundreds of pregnant people with no issues.
Q: What about herbs? That makes me nervous. I only recommend herbal medicine or supplements I am confident are safe for pregnancy and babies, and only when necessary. However, your comfort level is my main concern, and if you choose not to take anything, I completely respect that!
Q: Do you do acupuncture inductions? During the last 4 weeks of pregnancy I offer labor preparation treatments, if cleared by your doctor or midwife. These are NOT inductions and will not force anything to happen. However, they do facilitate the natural progression toward labor. I have helped many people avoid medical induction and other birth interventions.
Q: How often do I need to come in? During the first trimester, I typically recommend weekly or biweekly acupuncture treatment to ensure a thriving pregnancy and address common early pregnancy complaints. After that, my Healthy Pregnancy Plan focuses on monthly maintenance or as needed. If labor preparation treatments are something you’re interested in, those are weekly beginning around week 36 or 37.
